GRAMMAR SUBJECT - VERB AGREEMENT - 7







The majortiy of, a minortiy of + plural noun = plural verb:

The vast majortiy of nations have agreed to unite their efforts to bring peace.

A minortiy of students have supported the teacher.

All of, any of, some of, most of, half of + plural noun = plural verb

All of, any of, some of, most of, half of + ncountable noun = singular verb:

All of the poems are written in traditional metres and rhyme schemes.

Some of the dictionaries were lost from the library last year.

Most of the girls come from noble families.

Half of the mangoes are ripe enough to eat.

All of the information was wrong.

Half of the money that I get is used for food.

 Many a + singular noun = singular verb:

Many a student has paid the fees this month.

Many + plural noun + plural verb:

Many students have paid the fees this month.

There + plural noun = plural verb

There + singular noun = singular verb:

There is a banyan tree near my house.

There are two banyan trees near my school.
