ഇംഗ്ലിഷിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെ നാലായി തരംതിരിക്കാം:

1. Assertive/Declarative Sentence

 Subject-ല്‍ തുടങ്ങി full stop-ല്‍ അവസാനിക്കുന്ന വാക്യം:

Rahul has given me an Oxford Dictionary.

2. Imperative Sentence

  Verb-ല്‍ തുടങ്ങി full stop-ല്‍ അവസാനിക്കുന്ന വാക്യം:

Give me an Oxford Dictionary.

3. Interrogative Sentence

  Auxiliary verb-ലോ question word-ലോ തുടങ്ങി ചോദ്യചിഹ്നത്തില്‍ അവസാനിക്കുന്ന വാക്യം:

Can you please tell me your name?

What is your name?

4. Exclamatory Sentence

    Exclamation mark-ല്‍ അവസാനിക്കുന്ന വാക്യം:

What a beutiful flower it is!

How sweetly she sang the song!
